Let’s Talk (Post) Turkey, Gratitude for Our Community

The kick-off to the holiday season can be fun, fraught, or something in between. But no matter where your experience lands, remember that we’re thankful for you, for the community you’re part of, and for our collective efforts to continue to protect and support each other.

Recognizing Thanksgiving without recognizing its origins is a form of erasure. As we express our gratitude for what we have, we must also recognize the terrible origins of this country and vow to never again build lives on the foundations of others’ suffering, even as people around the world struggle to find permanent homes after millennia of colonization.

We pursue defending the tenets of reproductive justice to undo some of the injustice built into the framework of our country so that people can not only have children when, how, and if they want them, but raise them in a safe and healthy environment.

To raise funds that will help us continue our work, we’re taking part in Giving Tuesday this year. Please become a sustaining donor by visiting Giving Tuesday 2023!

Here are our focus topics for 2024:

• Standing up to hate groups targeting trans community members (Southern Poverty Law Center declared one in particular an “extreme” hate group, and it opened a chapter in RI a month ago)
• Working with partners to create activist actions showing our commitment to ensuring trans folks in our state are supported and safe 
• Expanding voter access
• Exposing and pushing back on fake crisis pregnancy centers 
• Expanding access to contraceptives by putting vending machines in the community
• Supporting youth access to reproductive care, including abortion

Here is how your dollars will be put to work:

• Creating postcard campaigns
• Printing rally posters to give away for free while supporting the local artists who design them
• Helping to make our outreach more equitable by accessing translation services
• Supporting grant-writing efforts that will fund our programs
• Supporting policy research we share with legislators and community partners
• Funding community self-care and education nights
