Radical change is collective. None of our work is possible without volunteers on the front lines and behind the scenes.
Advocacy is an ongoing effort, and we need volunteers throughout the year. We offer many types of volunteer opportunities, allowing you to join us for a one-time event or a recurring commitment. Our volunteer coordinators will be sure you get involved with the type of activism that best suits your interests, availability, and comfort level.

TWP lobbying volunteers contact elected officials about key issues, maintain a presence at the State House with our team, and help gather community support for our large-scale artivism endeavors.

Especially in the warm seasons, TWPEF hits the streets of Rhode Island hard! Protest and rally volunteers will attend rallies like No Kings, participate in public art actions like marches and performances, and represent TWPEF at events hosted by aligned organizations like Planned Parenthood.

TWP is committed to protecting the bodily freedoms of all Rhode Islanders, but our small staff can't be everywhere at once. That's why we made the BFAL. BFAL volunteers mobilize rapidly to attend school committee, town, or city meetings where issues of bodily freedoms (such as trans rights in schools) are being discussed. The BFAL speaks out at these meetings in support of bodily freedoms and rounds up neighbors to do the same. Make sure to enter your location so we can send you relevant alerts.

The BFFI is an ongoing initiative by TWP to record and report the stance of each elected official in Rhode Island (from school committee members to senators) on issues of reproductive freedom, gender equity, and LGBTQ+ rights in Rhode Island. We do this because voters have the right to know where their officials stand. We gather this information directly from officials by asking them to take a two-question survey online. Extroverted volunteers will reach out by phone, email, or in person to officials who have not yet filled out the survey. Introverted volunteers will help us process responses and find contact information for officials who do not respond.

We can't do anything we do without funds. Fundraising volunteers do anything from reposting our campaigns on social media to hosting a fundraising dinner for your friends. Other activities include visiting local businesses to solicit sponsorships, staffing and helping to organize our fundraising events, and introducing our TWPEF to all your philanthropically-minded friends. If you have an idea for generating funds, we'd love to hear it!
TWPEF hosts "Maker's Workshops" where volunteers can come to our space for the communal creation of art, including pieces that will be used in art activism endeavors. Maker's volunteers also help us staff classes, lectures, and exhibits on art activism. You can take the classes too!

Both TWP and TWPEF are run by a teeny tiny staff, and running lean means that we don't always have the bandwidth for extensive administrative tasks. We don't often call on these volunteers, but we send out the call when we need folx to enter data, reformat spreadsheets, aggregate contact information from Google searches, and quality check/proofread docs, and organize our online files (artivism results in tons of photos!) You can volunteer from your home on your own schedule, but we ask that you sign a non-disclosure agreement before we grant access to TWP's information.
