[PROVIDENCE, RI] — In time for the 2026 November Election in RI, The Womxn Project has released its 2026 Bodily Freedom Forever* Index (BFFI), Midterms Edition. This index includes candidates running at the local, state, and national levels, from school committees to congressional seats.

“The BFFI has become part of the electoral landscape in Rhode Island. We appreciate the volunteers and candidates that helped assemble this year’s BFFI. If you see candidates who have not been rated, it’s because they did not respond. You can demand that folx who want your vote complete the two questions in the BFFI.” said Jocelyn Foye, Executive Director of TWP.
Staff and volunteers at The Womxn Project have come together to research each candidate, vetting and reporting their stance on bodily freedom. The BFFI serves as a transparency tool, as many voters do not know where their local candidates stand on these critical issues because oftentimes, they are not directly addressed at the town level. Candidate BFFI ratings are based on their position on two issues: Reproductive Rights & LGBTQ+ Rights.
Debates about LGBTQ+ Rights continue to take place at school committee meetings across the state, and both gender affirming care and reproductive healthcare remain contentious issues at the state level. The Bodily Freedom Forever Index will allow voters to make decisions based on how candidates align with their own values. This Index will continue to be updated up until November 3rd, the day of the election.
The BFFI was started in 2024 and is produced annually, as elections are scheduled.
*Bodily Freedom is defined as having sole decision-making power over your body, so long as those decisions do not infringe on another’s bodily autonomy.
