Celebrating 50 years of giving women a place to show their work at the Jamestown Art Center

Feb 10, 2020 ||| … It’s an obligation that chimes with my own experience of manhood, but it’s not the only obligation voiced in this show. On a series of quilts made in collaboration with the Womxn Project, we see the words of Rhode Island women patched together in defense of the Reproductive Privacy Act, which was signed into law last June.

Here we find the same idea that brought Hera into being. On a bright pink square signed by Annette Martinez of Central Falls: “As women we must stand up for each other.”
