We need the committees in the RI House of Representatives to know that people are watching and that we want to see abortion access and reproductive rights protected THIS YEAR! It is that simple. Look below for the 4 actions.

Equality In Abortion Coverage Act

| 1 |  Plan to join us TOMORROW, Thursday, April 20th the House Judiciary Committee will vote yes or no on the passage of the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act, the bill to get rid of harmful bans on health coverage for abortion.

This is it – a moment so many of us have worked so hard for. We had a great hearing, but we need you to make it clear to the committee that Rhode Islanders want this bill passed. Join us in green and pink, holding signs outside the committee room, or add your company in House Hearing Room 101 for this quick up or down vote. Our team will be there tomorrow for the vote. Protecting Reproductive Care+ in the Rhode Island ACA

| 3 |  EMAIL #2: The Womxn Project is one of the many partners in the Protect Our Healthcare Coalition. Tomorrow (Thursday, April 20) RI’s House Health and Human Services Committee will hear testimony on House Bill 5426 to safeguard the patient protections of the Affordable Care Act in state law. We invite you to help us amplify this important fight. The bill includes safeguarding the no-cost preventive services provisions of the ACA that provides for no-cost-share contraceptive coverage, HIV prevention care, cancer screenings, and much more.

It is important that Committee members hear from those of us who believe how important these patient protections are. (Anti-advocates are saying they do not want to support “abortifacient and other contraceptives” in their health plans.)

• Sample message: “Rhode Islanders’ health collectively has thrived from the ACA. Despite the ACA again being upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2021, individual components of the ACA remain at risk. The most recent attack in the federal courts is the March 30, 2023 final ruling by a Texas federal court judge that severely limits the ACA requirement for preventive services without cost-sharing.I believe those who need coverage regardless of pre-existing conditions should be able to be covered. They should be able to access essential health benefits like maternity care, mental health care, prescription drugs, hospitalization, reproductive healthcare and more. People should have No-Cost coverage for preventive services like your annual health exam, cancer screenings, contraception care, mental health screenings, and more. And finally, they should be able to count on protections against annual and lifetime limits.”
