We know we reach out a lot and we ask you to take action with us, but we are so close to seeing this through. We need you to stay in it with us. This is really SOOOOOOO much bigger than the Rhode Island bill.
Yes, we are working hard to protect the right to abortion, but we are also making it clear that we will not just watch as around the country abortion is banned. We will draw a line and saying “enough” – we won’t allow our rights to be trampled on or ignored. We won’t let politicians play political games with our friends, families, and our futures!
We are building a movement that seeks to ensure we can get an abortion when we need one, but also a strong movement to push for real and lasting change to make a positive difference in our state. We are in this together!
QUICK UPDATE:
Judiciary Chair, Senator Erin Lynch Prata publicly stated in multiple forums that there is a small committee of senators working to find a path forward on the bill. We remain optimistic that we can get this done this year, but we continue to hear how important it is that we KEEP UP THE PRESSURE! Time is running out. It is critical that we keep on showing up and speaking up!
WE NEED YOU!

The big State House push this week is on Wednesday, June 5th. We are working with the Rhode Island Coalition for Reproductive Freedom on an “emergency action” from 3:00-6:00pm. We have the rotunda and need to fill it with pink. Please, plan to be there with us and our partners. Special treat, NOW President, Toni Van Pelt will be there!
-
Can’t do Wednesday? We will be there Tuesday and Thursday 3:30-6:00pm. So pick one or all three days and show up in your pink, but PLEASE plan to be with us as much as you can!
-
We also have new postcards to help make an impact on your own time! Our postcarding rock star Deb is is your best contact to get a postcard packet (or two or more).
-
Of course, we also need to continue our calls to the Senate President Dominick Ruggerio (401-222-6655) to ensure he lives up to his commitment to get a bill to the floor! Tell him to LET IT OUT! If the mailbox is full, call again during working hours to speak to his assistant.
Whatever it is that you can do, we need you to dig in. We are BEYOND grateful to the THOUSANDS of Rhode Islanders who have volunteered with us in recent months and time is of the essence. It is truly amazing. Let’s keep it up and win #repro4RI TOGETHER!
Image captions: We have been busy all over the state in the last few days. We went to an amazing Providence Roller Derby event, held a Knit-In and postcard signing in the State House and at Wildflower in Pawtucket, were present at Newport Pride (getting geared up for Providence’s Pride event on June 15th), the Rally about Love, and of course getting ready for “Pro-Choice” Prom on June 11th. Stay tuned!
