Governor McKee delivered his “State of the State” last night, talked about health and economics progress, but did not mention abortion access. Disappointing, to say the least. Abortion access improves health AND economic outcomes, as research shows. Restrictions on abortion access are costing states over $100 Billion annually.
The governor made a commitment in September to submit a budget without bans on health coverage for state employees and people who use Medicaid. Now we need more than statements – we need actions.
JOIN US in calling on the governor to live up to his commitment when the FY 24 budget is introduced this week & to use the power of his office to ensure the EACA becomes law!

“Dear Governor McKee, My name is ____. I am a Rhode Island voter. I was disappointed that Governor McKee did not mention his commitment to getting rid of bans on health coverage for abortion in the “State of the State”. Abortion bans harm not only health, but do impact the ability to maintain a job and harm the financial stability of families and long-term economics in our communities. I am urging him to live up to his commitment to submit a budget without these insurance denials in public programs and to use his power to make sure the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act is passed and enacted this year. Now more than ever we need him to take action for health equity and bodily autonomy. Thank you.
Sincerely, Name” -

I’m urging @GovDanMcKee to live up to his commitment to submit a budget without bans on health coverage for abortion & use his power to ensure the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act is enacted in 2023. We need him to take action for health equity & bodily autonomy. #PassTheEACA!
We need Governor McKee to come through on the budget he promised, reflecting our values and advancing health equity. He needs to do more than speak out. He needs to LEAD and get The Equality in Abortion Coverage Act enacted NOW. It’s time to create a more equitable Rhode Island, with abortion healthcare available to all who need it.
