We are sick of waiting for legislators to take action to address the very real obstacles Rhode Islanders face to getting abortion care. Rhode Islanders continue to struggle with their health and the financial impacts of the pandemic. They don’t need to also have to deal with abortion being pushed out of reach by harmful limitations on insurance coverage. So let’s do something about it!
We need to get a hearing and push for a vote to pass the Equality in Abortion Coverage Act (S267/H5787), which eliminates bans on health insurance coverage for abortion. Until we get do, the right to abortion is taken away from many people, especially women of color and low-income families – and that is unacceptable!
We are working to raise at least $2,500 to fund our ongoing – and very successful – postcarding program. We have the volunteers – BUT – weneed to pay for printing and stamps or we will have to abandon one of our most effective ways of communicating with our activists AND generating calls and emails to key legislators who can get this bill moving.
We are so grateful to everyone who has and continues to be part of our efforts to push for positive change. We are asking you to chip in whatever you can to help us keep it up!
Think of it this way:
- $5 = 10 postcards
$25 = 50 postcards
$50 = 100 postcards
$100 = 200 postcards
We are trying to send out close to 5,000 cards (more if we can raise the funds). This means 5,000 or more calls and emails to elected officials!
As you know, our work matters and has proven to have an impact, but we need to turn up the heat! If we don’t, the bill will languish. It is that simple. Please, consider making a donation TODAY. Thank you for your generosity.
