Hey, Womxn Project friends!
We know that the MAJORITY of Rhode Islanders support the Reproductive Health Care Act and the majority of voters across the country have said time and again that they do not want to see Roe overturned and the right to abortion taken away.
Here’s the problem.
Our opposition is loud and they are showing up at the State House every week. It is small groups of folks, but they are there and they are continuing to push lies about the RHCA and what it does and does not do. It is important that we show up, too.
Do you have a couple hours to give next week to push to pass the RHCA this year? The General Assembly is on recess this week. We want to welcome them back to the State House with supporters in red and pink with signs in support of the RHCA. We will also deliver the valentines created by our volunteers to thank our sponsors.
Our co-director, Jordan Hevenor will be there on Tuesday, February 26th. Our volunteer lobbyist, Caroline Morgan will be there on Wednesday, February 27th. They will meet volunteers in the rotunda with signs. We would ask you to be there with us 3:30-5:30. Can you be there? (We have posters and magenta ti-shirts to give out!)
It is such a simple, but important way that you can help continue the strong momentum behind this critical legislation.
Can’t make it out to the State House? No problem.
Our postcarding program is an easy and effective way to help out whenever it works for you. We give youa list of 50 folks and you spend a half an hour or so doing handwritten postcards to engage activists on the bill. You can even make a gathering of it and pull together a postcard party. We provide the list and all the supplies. Just fill out this short form: http://bit.ly/RHCApostcards
There are so many ways to be part of not just passing the RHCA, but building a strong movement or reproductive health, rights and justice in our state. We have an event this weekend with Rep. Tanzi and Senator Valverde in Peace Dale. We have postcard gatherings, including “Postcards and Beer Tasting” in Providence on Saturday.
We hope whether you can give 30 minutes to do some postcards or several hours that you will do something. The time is truly now and frankly, Rhode Island women are sick of waiting for our rights to be protected!
Let’s do this together!
Sincerely,
Jocelyn, Jordan and the rest of the team at The Womxn Project
