For folks who were not able to join us tonight, Republican ex office members were going to go into committee and vote to defeat the bill, so the Chair used her discretion and transferred it to the Health Committee. The RPA as amended will now be considered on Thursday, June 13th at 6:15pm. We will be there! We hope you will grab your pink and plan to join us!
We are disappointed political games continue to be played with our health, rights and lives. We appreciate the leadership of Senate Judiciary Chair Erin Lynch Prata. A lot of work has gone into coming up with a thoughtful set of amendment to balance interests. Activists from across the state have given so much of themselves to continue to speak up and show up to move this bill forward. This legislation deserve to get a vote on the Senate floor!
We are hopeful that the Health and Human Services Committee will put agendas aside and move this bill forward. After all, abortion is healthcare and we all deserve to have the ability and the right to manage our health and make decisions about our own bodies. We will continue to organize and mobilize to get this bill to the governor’s desk. There is too much at stake to give up. We are going to get this done and protect our rights this year.
TOGETHER, we will protect our right to abortion!
