The Womxn Project knows how important it is that we have the information and contraceptive supplies to prevent unintended pregnancy and plan their families, that we can obtain prenatal care to have a healthy pregnancy, and that we can get a safe abortion when we need to end a pregnancy.
Making sure people can become parents when they are ready and have the support the need improves health outcomes and the financial stability of individuals and their families. It also means that women get to control their own bodies and their own futures.
Our team will be up at the State House this week advocating for legislation to protect access to contraception without cost sharing. Lack of insurance or adequate income continues to create barriers for many people in our state. This bill is an important step to help close the gaps. You can join us this Thursday for the Senate Health and Human Services Committee hearing. We will also continue to show up and speak out to build momentum for the Reproductive Health Care Act (S 152A).
We are holding a family picnic TONIGHT. Folks are starting to arrive around 4:30. We will have crayons, coloring pages and pizza. We know that the work we do benefits women and their families. We know that 60% of women who seek abortion are already mothers – have already experienced pregnancy and laboring and the beauty and struggle of parenting. We are proud to support having families be able to be part of the policy making process and make their voices heard. Download the coloring paper for any time!
We are building a movement to protect our rights and our bodily autonomy. We are working for and with marginalized communities to get rid of address systemic barriers to the care we need.
WE ARE PRO-FAMILY! Our opposition makes lots of claims, but we are not just making statements. We are taking action to support women and families. Thank you for being in this with us! Let’s keep it up. We still have work to do and our families are depending on us!
