We know it is a time where it is easy to feel overwhelmed, but we hope you are also getting some energy from the number of folks who are rising up and speaking out – and from the incredible opportunity we have in Rhode Island to get things done for health coverage for abortion to really make strides in ensuring when someone wants an abortion in OUR state, they can get one!
TWP is excited to join friends around the state for a series of rallies. Here are the details that are most up to date:
Providence | Park across from the RI Supreme Court | 10:30-noon| 250 Benefit St
Narragansett | Meet at the Towers | 11am
Newport | Newport City Hall | 1pm | 43 Broadway
These events are a part of protests and rallies happening all over the country on Saturday, May 14th and beyond. If you’re headed to an event in your town or city, think about bringing one of our badass and beautiful (we think) posters with you.
(Download and print from home or get some at the event!)
We are providing a few options – “Control Our Bodies, Control Our Futures” by artist Allison Cole to dig in on what is at stake, a dual language piece using green and hands united imagery in honor of the campaigns around the world in Ireland, Argentina and other countries fighting back against incredible odds, and last we are including a NEW one – “Fu*k It Up Y’All” because sometimes you need to get a little irreverent and put it out there. Find the one(s) that speak to you and please, use them to help push for the change we need!
Print them out – and tag us on social media – Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter.
Take care. Be safe.
If you are taking this weekend to rest, that is ok. We need you in this for the long run. We all need to not just encourage each other to act (though that is so important right now), we also need to be there for each other and support each other.
We are in this together. Please, do what you can and take care of yourself – and each other!
In solidarity and with love for the community WE have built!
