On September 30th, over 1,100 Rhode Islanders called for the passage of the Reproductive Health Care Act in a full-page ad in the Providence Journal. Now, we’ll gather to hear stories about what the passage of the Reproductive Health Care Act means to you. The public and press are welcome to join us for a Speak Out for Reproductive Rights on:
Sunday, October 21st 2-5pm
First Unitarian Church, at 1 Benevolent St, Providence
(handicap accessible)
Laura Harmon, the keynote speaker, led the mobilization team for the successful Together for Yes campaign to repeal the Eighth Amendment in Ireland in 2018. Rita Harrold, an activist for the grassroots organization called ROSA, in Ireland, will be another speaker in the event. Together, these activists organized efforts to repeal the 8th amendment in Ireland and will share the experiences of the people of Ireland who overcame religious and political opposition to overturn antiquated laws that banned abortion in the country.
These Irish activists will also be joined by physicians, health care providers, clergy, and legal experts that have been working for decades to keep abortions, safe, legal and available in Rhode Island. These Rhode Islanders will share their perspective on what is at stake in our state and our country now the Justice Kavanaugh has joined the Supreme Court.
Women and their loved ones will also share powerful, personal stories about why they support the Reproductive Health Care Act. If you would like to join the voices of people sharing their stories, please contact the event organizers by October 19th to add your name to the list.
The public, and media, are welcome and encouraged to attend this inspiring event.
