Providence | August 30 – Donald Trump is speaking tonight at the Moms for Liberty national summit in Washington DC in yet another example of the Presidential candidate’s efforts to align himself with divisive and controversial groups. He’s stoking the flames of cultural conflict by speaking to an organization known for its aggressive stance on limiting educational content and curbing diversity in schools. The group is so aggressive that the Southern Poverty Law Center listed it in its hate and extremism report.
The hateful rhetoric we’re sure he’ll spew tonight will further polarize the already contentious debate on how children are treated in schools. We are offended by his consistent choice to cater to a narrow base while alienating the majority of Americans who believe in an inclusive, respectful, and balanced approach to the issues facing our nation’s education system. But we aren’t shocked that a group that claims to focus on children’s safety would invite an adjudicated sex offender and felon to keynote their event.
That is because we have tracked the local RI chapter as they attempt to gaslight RI school districts around stripping trans students rights. According to the US Dept. Of Ed, RI is 5th in sexual assaults and 10th in rape and attempted rape (per capita) which are not perpetrated by trans students. But M4L abhors facts and trades on fear, as all hate groups do. TWP will continue to organize, town by town, to defend all students from bigotry. No matter what happens nationally, hate group members in RI are working themselves into local offices. Join us in defending our towns from hate.
