On April 3, to mark the 13th Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) passage, members of the Rhode Island Federal Delegation, Congressmen David Cicilline and Seth Magaziner, are invited to a Town Hall to discuss where the country was before the ACA and where the ACA stands now. We will learn how the legislation has been critical for the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders; the level of coverage it provides for primary, behavioral health, and preventative care, including reproductive care; and we will discuss how the ACA has advanced health equity and how the ACA can be preserved into the future.
What: This public information event will discuss the ACA’s role in providing comprehensive coverage and more equitable access to healthcare, including reproductive care options, and the importance of codifying patient protections at the state level.
When: Monday, April 3, from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m.
Where: United Way, 50 Valley Street, Providence, First Floor Conference Room
Who: Hosted by The Womxn Project Education Fund, in partnership with The Womxn Project and Protect Our Healthcare Coalition RI
Why: This event celebrates the longevity of the ACA, despite its many political attacks. The ACA has been a lifeline for millions of Americans for more than a decade, proving its value during the recent pandemic more than ever before. With nearly 15 million Americans expected to lose Medicaid coverage after the public health emergency officially ends in May, affordable healthcare in ACA marketplaces will be critical in ensuring people maintain access to affordable care.
