The Womxn Project has been busy. In fact, people are saying we look like we are everywhere. Well, we kinda are because we see how we can help put the pressure on (or asked to help do so). Between going to Susan Collins’ office in Maine to projecting and rallying at the Supreme Court in Washington DC, we are learning a lot more along the way.
We’ve learned that COVID is benefiting the GOP in this race, that people are not out as much as they want to be (Washington was eerily quiet), and COVID is an excuse for a lot to happen behind closed doors, which is happening. The hearing, the spikes in COVID, distanced learning at the same time as working… we are all feeling like we are at a breaking point but helps the GOP too.
We know Rhode Island and individual states will have to do a lot to be better to it’s people in the face of federal actions and we will be prepared with some big actions soon (let’s get through the election first.) So while it is tempting to think about shutting off and shutting down, I’m sorry we can’t yet because too much is at stake, at the state and federal level. This is where creativity comes in useful, the marathon mentality, and all hands on deck matters. 😉
Take a look below at ways you can speak up and speak out, in Rhode Island and beyond. If you are frustrated or sad, we DO get it, but please pick ONE (or more) thing that you can do to make a difference. By doing something you should be pleased with yourself for joining in the fight millions of Americans are also active as we try to make this country better for ALL people living in it. We ARE in this together and we learned how to make a difference! Let’s keep it up.
Three things you can do right now:
ACTION #1: The GOP BURN Book
Don’t get the Supreme Court process or want to learn more? The Womxn Project’s Tammy Brown and Emily Boucher have an entertaining and informative look at the process AND how you can help! Watch the video.
Check it out and then: Call and email your senators TODAY (202-224-3121): “No on Amy Coney Barrett and her harmful views and no confirmation before Inauguration!” More info here.
ACTION #2: EARLY VOTING
One critical form of activism you can do TODAY is to vote and make sure that lawmakers reflect and respect our values! Rhode Island early voting started yesterday and runs through November 2. You can go vote in person (in a mask) or if you have a mail in ballot, get it in!
Action #2: VOTE and then post your #OurVoteIsOurVoice selfie! More info here.
ACTION #3: JOIN US IN MAINE AGAIN!
The Womxn Project is hitting the road again this Saturday, October 17th to head to Portland, ME to put pressure on Senator Susan Collins to keep her promise and vote “NO” on confirmation before the elections.
Action #3: Join us this weekend to help organize and turn up the heat in Maine! More info here. We are fighting #ForJustice!
