Today marks 47 years of the Helms Amendment, a racist, white supremacist policy exporting US politicians’ attempts to control abortion information and access and deny bodily autonomy.
Helms denies the use of US funds to ensure safe abortion services. It causes great harm, especially to Black and Brown people around the world.
The Womxn Project is proud to endorse Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act, which gets rid of this dangerous policy. We are grateful to Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) for co-sponsoring this legislation. Please, join us in urging Rep. Jim Langevin (D-RI) to also sign on in support of this important bill.
QUICK ACTION – FOR TODAY:
Contact Rep. Jim Langevin to ask him to sign on as a co-sponsor of the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act!
Call and/or email to day: “Today is the 47th anniversary of the Hyde Amendment, which causes great harm by denying safe abortion care. It’s time to end nearly five decades of harm and for the US government to stop neglecting, stigmatizing and separating out abortion care. This policy needs to go. Helms hurts Black and Brown people around the world. Please, sign on as a co-sponsor of the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act, which was introduced by Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) in July.”

Together, we are working for a more just world. A world where we can all live with health and dignity. A world where Black, Indigenous, and other people of color can not only be safe, but thrive. We hope that you will get a chance to rest and to connect with loved ones either safely in person or virtually. We have work to do, but please, remember that self-care is part of the revolution!
