The Primary Resulted in Wins for Many Pro-Bodily Freedom Candidates!

The Primary Resulted in Wins for Many Pro-Bodily Freedom Candidates!

As you know, we recently launched our 2026 Bodily Freedom Forever Index just in time for the Primaries, so that voters in Rhode Island could see where their local candidates stand on reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights.

The Primary election has yielded some hopeful results, with three pro-choice women becoming the Democratic candidates for Governor, Attorney General, and Lieutenant Governor. These women are Helena Foulkes for Governor, Kim Ahern for AG, and Sabina Matos for LG. Aside from that, many other candidates that are FOR bodily freedom will be on the ballot in November, which you will be able to see once we update the BFFI in preparation for the General Election, so stay tuned for the launch of that next! (And, if you’re on the ballot for November but still haven’t heard from us about the BFFI yet, just know that you’ll be hearing from us soon!)

Since we first launched the 2026 BFFI at the end of August, it has received several thousand views, which means people began looking at and using our tool to inform their vote as soon as it became available! Given that we are such a small organization with a limited budget and do not have the resources to advertise the BFFI in the ways that we’d like, we consider this initial launch a huge success!

We hope that the usage of our Bodily Freedom Forever Index will continue to grow, regardless of what side of the aisle people are on, and that those who used it during the Primaries will use it again come November. Please be sure to share it with everyone you know!
