We are continuing to work to support our activists up to the State House each week — to push for support of our bill which gets rid of bans on health coverage for abortion. House Bill 7618 has 28 sponsors and Senate Bill 2476 has 19. This is VERY exciting. We will keep you posted on ways to help.

We also want to SHOW UP for three other bills/resolutions that are being heard this week!
Today, Tuesday, an anti-abortion resolution was introduced and is being heard TODAY in the House Judiciary Committee! H. 7355 urges lawmakers to ban abortion early in pregnancy, similar to the bills that passed in Ohio and throughout the South last year.
It is a resolution, so it does not change law, but it is important that we show that we will not allow any rollback of the right to abortion that we fought so hard to protect. We can’t be quiet or idle when this kind of proposal is being pushed in our General Assembly!
- Join us at the State House TODAY! We are meeting at 3:30pm in front of 101. You can sign in to show your opposition and be there with us to make it clear that we will keep showing up! Contact our volunteer leader, Cori Garland to join her tomorrow.

Can’t make it? You can still help make your voice heard! Send a short email and/or make a call RIGHT NOW to urge committee members to vote “no”.
Message: My name is ____. I am calling to voice strong opposition to H. 7355, a resolution that urges the General Assembly to take away access to abortion early in pregnancy before most people even know they are pregnant. This is out of touch with Rhode Island values. Voters have made it clear they want lawmakers to protect – not restrict – the right to access an abortion. Please, vote no on this resolution. Thank you.
You can use this message to send an email or make a call now!

Sample Post: I’m speaking out to oppose a resolution being heard in RI today modeled after the harmful, unconstitutional early abortion bans pushed in the South. We must #stopthebans and protect our rights – not allow politicians to impose their personal beliefs on our families and futures.

Join Rhode Islanders for Parentage Equality on Wednesday to support a bill to eliminate unfair and dated parentage law which currently discriminates against families based on sexual orientation, gender, and the way a family was formed.
SUPPORT ending discrimination against LGBT families! You can: (1) Attend a press conference on Wednesday, February 26th at 3pm in the Statehouse Library (second floor) and/or (2) show your support by signing up in favor or testifying at the House Judiciary Hearing at 5pm. Caroline Morgan will be there as part of The Womxn Project’s “Wednesdays with Caroline”. Join her!
Help send a message that we need to update our parentage law, protect our children, and respect all families, and we need to do it this year. Showing up–for either or both–can really make a difference! You can also contact the committee to urge their support of H 7541!

There is also a bill led by the ACLU of Rhode Island to gender rating, the practice of charging higher premiums based on gender. H 7440 will be in the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare on Wednesday, February 26th. If you are able to come to the State House, you can simply sign up in support of the bill. You do not have to testify. Though if you want to, we are happy to support you. You can submit testimony or contact the committee to say you hope they will vote “yes” on this bill.
