Yojaida Heredia is a born and raised PVD local with a passion for racial and gender equality. With roots in community organizing and being a youth advocate for many groups in Providence, she’s passionate about activism. She spends her time reading, doing yoga, and drinking tea. She’s an outgoing spirit who loves meeting new people and making an impact.
Stephanie Moniz was born and raised on the south side of Providence. Her parents immigrated from Cabo Verde in the early 80’s. She is a mother, artist, and formerly incarcerated activist. Part of her experience as a mother in the criminal justice system was documented in the award-winning feature length documentary “Tre Maison Dasan,” and she subsequently wrote illustrated and self-published a children’s’ book entitled “Resilient Mr. Ball” to highlight the power of resilience in the face of adversity. She hopes to use her training in Mindfulness Based Emotional Intelligence to help women find power in their vulnerability and tell the stories that will inspire a wave of empowerment and change.
