When someone needs care, we are driven to make sure they can get it. A piece of this important work is to ensure that if someone wants or needs to self-manage their abortion that they can get pills, have the info and support they need, and understand the legal implications and where to get help.
The push to criminalize abortion pills is a push to take away our ability to care for ourselves, but we will always PUSH back.
The Womxn Project Ed Fund and the Louisiana Coalition for Reproductive Freedom are honored to continue our #RJConvos series with a special gathering featuring ReproAction and the Repro Legal Defense Fund to talk about pushing beyond courts and politicians to use abortion pills as ONE way to get people the abortion care they need – and the work we will do to keep each other cared for and free!
Last year, the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, a group of anti-abortion physicians, asked a Dallas federal court to call the FDA approval of mifepristone illegal. Mifepristone is one of the two drugs needed for a medical abortion. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk, a Trump-appointed judge, is hearing the case and could issue a ruling as soon as February 24. If the FDA approval is overturned, people will at least temporarily lose access to the most commonly used abortion method, and the case could weaken the FDA’s drug approving powers.
